I was just talking to my dad today and learned my great grandfather was a 1/4 Native American. Probably Sioux but we don’t know for sure. There are some stories that are told that seem like straight from a tv script. I’ll text you one later this week if I remember.
This was so incredibly touching and a lovely read. How special it is to have time with grandparents.
Interesting to think that we may have traits, mannerisms, life experiences shared with our ancestors and never know it.. did my great great grandmother also carry cards around in her purse?
So wonderfully written! It’s so humbling to think the stories we think define us, could be lost in a generation and replaced by ones we ourselves find insignificant. And also how precious a gift it is to pass along the stories we hold of our loved ones (like our grandparents) down to the next generation, to allow the impact they made and continue to make be recognized and appreciated. ❤️
I really enjoyed reading this. It's left me feeling inspired to connect deeper with my parents, elders, and community. To be a listener and carrier of stories and memories. Thanks for sharing!
Elizabeth, you have a gift with words. Thank you for sharing.
I am off to a family reunion tomorrow. You have put a brighter flame under my curiosity. I look forward to absorbing stories told and times shared.
Thank you, Lisa! Have a wonderful time with your family!!

Yes it's so wild to think that all of us could have moments of our lives that seem like they could be pulled directly from a movie or show
